The Ultimate List – The Countdown Of The Quicks!
Most of us rate our supercars by their top speeds, and since manufacturers are obsessed to go faster, today there are plenty that rate well over 400 km/h! Some dragsters can do 1000 km/h, but they cheat with jet engines and have to stick to the racetrack.
Here are the world’s fastest (road legal) cars you can redline on a highway, track, or runway – and still drive home in!
1. Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut – 499 km/h
Taking the crown as quick king is this ballistic yet slimmer version of the brand’s already hypo hypercar. The Absolut has a twin-turbocharged 5.0 litre V8 engine pumping out 1600 horsepower, while only hitting the scales at 1390 kg! Aside from an absolutely nuts top speed of 499 km/h, it can go from 0-400km/h in 27.83 seconds!
2. Yangwang U9 Xtreme – 496 km/h
This emerging electric set the record for world’s fastest production car in 2025 with 496 km/h on a runway in Germany – a huge moment for electric cars and airports. Powered by four electric motors producing 3000 horsepower, its 1200 volt electrical system simply embarrasses your family EV’s 400 volts. Just 30 will be made at $200,000 – good luck.
3. SSC Tuatara – 475 km/h
The Americans know their V8s, and the fierce yet un-American sounding Tuatara gets slapped with a twin-turbocharged eight cylinder which puts out 1750 horsepower – when it opts for ethanol over petrol! Named after a New Zealand reptile, it hit 475 km/h back in 2022 and hasn’t been knocked off third spot yet!
4. Bugatti Tourbillon – 446 km/h
A fastest car list wouldn’t be complete with an entry by Bugatti! We all remember the Bugatti Veyron racing fighter planes on Top Gear. Now, the new Tourbillon model takes centre stage, the best of Bugatti with a top speed of 446 km/h! This missile comes in fourth with an 1800 horsepower V16 hybrid engine which allows launch to 100 km/h in under 2.0 seconds!
5. Hennessey Venom F5 – 438 km/h
The peeps in the USA are killing the top speed game, with the list rounding out with an all-American boy. The F5 has a 6.6 litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 1817 horsepower and 1,617 Nm of torque. That’s enough for a top five top speed of 438 km/h – for now. Hennessey wants more out of the F5, and they’re gunning for top spot soon!
