At over 100 metres tall, Victoria Falls waterfall in Africa is one of the coolest, loudest and wettest places on Earth.
- Victoria Falls is 108 metres tall, which is like stacking 24 school buses on top of each other.
- There’s a famous, safe swimming spot right at the edge of the cliff called The Devil’s Pool, where brave swimmers can look straight down!
- The waterfall sits right on the border of two African countries, Zambia and Zimbabwe. All of the rushing water comes from the mighty Zambezi River.
- Above the falls, the calm waters of the Zambezi River are packed with hippos and crocodiles.
- The steep, rocky cliffs of the gorges below the falls are safe nesting grounds for rare birds, like the Taita Falcon and the Black Eagle.
- Every minute, enough water pours over the edge to fill 200 Olympic swimming pools!
- Because the waterfall spray keeps the air constantly wet, a lush rainforest grows right next to the desert-like sands of the area.
- The splash from the water creates a giant cloud of mist that creates a non-stop rain shower for the rainforest next to it.
- When the moon is bright and full, the water spray creates a rare, magical nighttime rainbow called a moonbow!
