HIGH FIVE FOR #5
Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang are back for another awesome Toy Story movie. The challenge this time? Competing for Bonnie’s attention with her new obsession – a tablet called Lilypad! While Rex worries about becoming extinct (again), Jessie calls in backup to help their human pal remember that even though times change, hanging out with friends in real life is still the best thing ever.
NEW CHARACTERS
Besides Lilypad, you’ll meet Smarty Pants (an old toilet training gadget), Atlas (an old, hippo-shaped GPS tracker) and Snappy (a kids digital camera). There’s also Blaze, an older girl who loves horses and playing with toys. Blaze also lives on the ranch Jessie and her first owner used to call home.
FUNNY MOMENTS
Look out for Woody’s bald patch, Jessie’s showdown with Smarty Pants, 50 high-tech Buzz Lightyears washing up on the shores of a deserted island, and a pig named Jimmy Dean.
FRESH POTATO (HEADS)
You might notice that the voices for Mr and Mrs Potato Head have changed. The roles ended up going to voice actors Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino. But rumour has it that Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig (the duo that voice Gru and Lucy in Despicable Me) were also considered for the job!
GUESS WHAT?
Mr Potato Head wasn’t a toy created for the Toy Story series. It’s actually been around for ages, with the OG version hitting shelves all the way back in 1952.

- Buzz Lightyear was originally going to be called Lunar Larry
- In early versions of the first movie, Woody was going to be a villainous dummy
- The Pizza Planet truck appears in every Toy Story movie and almost every Pixar movie
- Toy Story 2 was almost lost – while the team were working on it, 90% of the movie was deleted. Luckily, someone had a backup copy at home. Phew!
- To work out how the green army men would move in the movies, the animators nailed a pair of shoes to a board and walked around their office in them
